Meet Danielle, pdxMindShare’s September Speaker on The Power of Body Language

It’s hard to believe September is already here, but we are excited to welcome everyone to our event next week, Tuesday, September 15th,  as we haven’t seen you all since July!  We are also looking forward to welcoming Danielle Baker to speak at our career-focused workshop on the power of body language and how to harness this very powerful nonverbal form of communication. After the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to network with dozens of Portland professionals and potential employers. This is a free event and everyone is welcome to attend. Each month, we see new faces as well as those we’ve seen many times before. The workshop kicks off at 4:30PM at Trader Vic’s in NW Portland.

Now, without further ado, please meet Danielle Baker from the Science of People who will present at September’s workshop:

1. Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a native Floridian, but after living in the Pacific NW for the last 2 years, I now call Portland home. My background is in Accounting, but after a few years in the field, I realized that working with people is my passion. I love hiking, trying new food and am only slightly obsessed with my 2 cats.

2. What will you be covering in your presentation?
In my presentation, I will teach you about the power of nonverbal communication. I will give you actionable tips to feel more confident and to have better relationships including how to appear more trustworthy, the right type of eye contact for every setting and the single best thing to do before your “next big thing”.

3. Why should Portland professionals attend?
Portland professionals should attend this presentation because every single one of us wants the secret sauce to better interactions with the people around us– colleagues, family and friends. And the secret lies in our nonverbal communication, the how we say something behind the what we say. Professionals will learn strategies to improve the impression they give to others as well as learn how to perceive the intentions of the people around them.

4. What are the top 3 takeaways for attendees?

  • Become the most memorable person in the room without even saying a word
  • Recognize your own nonverbal “bad habits” and take action to improve your first impression
  • Gain powerful insight into using body language to both show and feel increased levels of confidence
