Burnout to Balance: 3 Tools to Get You Back on Track @ Webinar

Kerstin McInnis is an intuitive career & transition coach, writer and teacher. She has worked as a corporate marketing professional in the areas of marketing, events, promotions, and communications for over 20 years. She spent the majority of her corporate career at Microsoft where she was an integral member of the teams that launched Xbox & Xbox 360.

After leaving corporate employment behind in 2006, Kerstin went on to become a consultant and it was during this time that she realized her path to becoming a coach. Upon encountering a clearly beaten down woman- walking through the Microsoft campus- she connected with her state of despair and knew immediately she had to find a way to help others. It was during these several years, that Kerstin started on her own path of healing, personal growth, traveling, and self-reflection while continuing with consulting work.

In 2011, she finally took the leap and began her coaching practice. Kerstin continues to coach, inspired by that woman she saw at Microsoft. She coaches for the younger version of herself who didn’t have any support. She coaches to share what she’s learned and to help people uncover what’s blocking them, work towards healing it and move forward.

Kerstin is a graduate of Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, a graduate of the Coach for Life program and applying for her ACC and ICF certification. Visit her website at KerstinMcInnis.com.

What will you be covering in your presentation?

The American Psychological Association reported, one-third of Americans feel they are living with extreme stress and 48% feel their stress has increased over the last five years. Compounding the problem is that no one talks about it. According to a study from the Modern Family Index, 68% of working parents won’t speak up about being burned out. The US “Winning with Wellness” report, says 87 percent of employers are committed to workplace wellness. Is your company one of them? Do you know employees are 17% less likely to quit if they feel their employers care about their well-being?

I’ll share three tools that can help you get back on track to feeling good about yourself, your job and help you avoid burnout. We’ll discuss fear and how it holds you back from getting what you want and what you can do to transform your fears.

Why should Portland professionals attend?

Are you dragging yourself to work or fantasizing about extended vacations? Is work getting you down? Are you numbing out with food, drugs, or alcohol? Are you experiencing unexplained headaches, backaches or other physical complaints? Feeling generally blah? You might be experiencing burnout.

Boundaries between work and personal life are blurred. We can check our email any time. Managers call employees while they’re on vacation. Employees feel they have to respond: 50% of employees check email on weekends, 46% check on sick days, and 34% are checking email while on vacation (Pew Internet & American Life Project).

Employees feel like they can’t say “no” without some negative backlash. The perception is that saying no to more work means you aren’t dedicated to the company and your job. The expectation is that you can always take on more work.

Fear drives most people. Fear of not enough money. Fear of losing a job. Fear of holding onto a job.

“Everything you want is on the other side of fear”–Jack Canfield
